Philip Hitchcock has challenged audiences with his art for over 30 years. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, CA, Palm Springs, CA, Toronto, CAN, Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH and St. Louis, MO.
Hitchcock’s sculpture is found in such prestigious collections as Leslie-Lohman Foundation, New York, NY; Saint Louis University Museum of Art (SLUMA) St. Louis, MO; Chicago Leather Archives and Museum, Chicago, IL; Mark Taper Family/Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles, CA; Sir Ian McKellen, U.K; Henry Jewelry, Hong Kong; Barbie Benton, Aspen, CO; Michele Rodriguez, Cagliari, Italy; and René Hubschmid of Switzerland.
Commercially, Hitchcock has been commissioned to create work for Chaifetz Arena, Central Institute for the Deaf, Disneyland, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., Delta Air Lines, L.A. Stage Alliance, FOX Television, Metro Goldwyn Mayer/ United Artists, (MGM/ UA), and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). His works are also featured in numerous films and TV shows.
Hitchcock has garnered various awards and accolades for his work including the 2010 Award of Appreciation from the Metropolitan Community Church, (MCC), the 2006 Artistic Achievement and Public Relations Award from the Association of Lifecasting International, (ALI), the 1997 Broadcast Design Award for MGM/UA’s Outer Limits limited edition sculpture, and the designation of being among “The OUT 100” in 2001, an annual list of the 100 most influential gay men and lesbians in America, according to OUT magazine.
Hitchcock, a magna cum laude graduate from UCLA, established, owned, and operated PHD Gallery in St. Louis, MO from 2007 to 2014. During his tenure at PHD Gallery, Hitchcock curated over 50 exhibitions featuring artworks by local, regional, national and international artists, including the first ever St. Louis exhibition of original Tom of Finland drawings. PHD Gallery received critical praise from innumerable media outlets including the New York Times and USA TODAY.
